BRANDED SERIES
GO HAWAII
Scope: Branded docuseries
Deliverables: Short-form documentaries highlighting authentic Hawaiian culture
The Problem:
Hawai‘i’s tourism marketing has often leaned on predictable images: beaches, luaus, and hotel resorts. The challenge was to go deeper—sharing stories that honor the islands’ living traditions and cultural practitioners, while still inspiring global audiences to visit.
Our Solution:
Studio Koa produced a series of short documentaries that revealed Hawai‘i beyond the postcard. From the rain dancers of Waimea, who perform centuries-old hula to honor ancestors and nourish the land, to the family-run Two Ladies Kitchen in Hilo, where mochi-making has become a generational bridge between cultures—each story highlighted the humanity and heritage that makes Hawai‘i extraordinary.
The Impact:
Global audiences echoed that these stories inspired them to visit Hawai‘i, experience its culture firsthand, and support local businesses. Native Hawaiians responded with pride and emotion — many commenting that they felt truly seen and honored by the way their traditions were represented.
Organic Reach:
Two Ladies Kitchen (Mochi): 7M+ views (2.8M YouTube, 4.2M Facebook), 100k likes, 7k+ comments.
Hawaiian Rain Dancers: 1.7M+ views (1.2M Facebook, 569k YouTube).
Together, these shorts sparked thousands of shares and comments that extended their reach well beyond typical tourism content.
Audience Reactions:
“Bro I’m going to Hawaii, there’s no turning back now.”
“Every time I learn a bit about Hawaiian culture it amazes me 100 times more.”
“I don’t know why but I cried… seeing people preserve their culture and tradition makes me so happy.”
